Meditation Gardens: Adventures in Dresses | {Encinitas Photographer}

Adventures in Dresses #6 : A day at the meditation gardens

For this week’s adventures, we took the girls to the Self Realization Meditation Gardens. It’s a gorgeous property near downtown Encinitas, overlooking Swami’s beach and part of the Self Realization Fellowship. The setting makes the gardens an ideal place for meditation and prayer. As we walked around the gardens, trying to keep the girls a little quiet and respectful, we came across many people deep in meditation. Maya is still talking about all the people “sleeping” in the gardens. The girls had a fabulous time exploring and observing, enjoying each other’s company, and most of all playing! The girls have really come to enjoy our Adventures in Dresses, and I look forward to it all week!

Our little ladies were well coordinated in Matilda Jane Platinum.  Miss M and Miss L in flutters aptly named Malibu, which were perfect for the beautiful beach day. Miss V wore a matching ellie named Field of Flowers, and Miss S wore a coordinating custom bubble. I love the blues, peach and yellow together, and they were so perfect for our beautiful setting.

Be sure to stay tuned for more Adventures In Dresses.

Superman in First Grade | {Carlsbad Child Photographer}

I finally got my boy out for back to school photos. It was so fun, we made a whole date night of it! And it was great to get to spend the evening with just him.

I can’t believe how fast he is growing up. He started first grade a few weeks ago, and it really feels like the time where they become real big kids and discover who they really are! He told me so much about all the kids in his class, what he likes about each of them, and how they make him laugh or make him feel good about himself. I’m so happy with his school, his teacher, and his friends. He even told me, “Momma, I don’t have a crush… but if I did, it would be on Ms. A because she laughs at my jokes and likes being goofy with me.” The very best kind of crush if you ask me <3

And tonight on the way home he was singing along with one of his favorite songs, Five for Fighting’s “Superman” and I couldn’t help but think of how much the song relates to his personality and the way he is. I actually started tearing up listening to him sing such meaningful lyrics:

I can’t stand to fly
I’m not that naïve
I’m just out to find
The better part of me

I’m more than a bird,
I’m more than a plane
I’m more than some pretty face beside a train
It’s not easy to be me

It may sound absurd but don’t be naïve
Even heroes have the right to bleed
I may be disturbed but won’t you concede
Even Heroes have the right to dream
And it’s not easy to be me

I’m only a man in a funny red sheet
I’m only a man looking for her dream
I’m only a man in a funny red sheet
It’s not easy.
It’s not easy to be me.

He is a very sensitive child. He feels things so deeply, and small things affect him so much. The lyrics describe him so perfectly. A Super Boy, but it’s so not easy to be him. He is a realist, too smart for his own good, cautious, but with big dreams. And it’s only just begun for him. I wonder what the future holds for you, my dear boy, my bear, my love <3 For now, the adventures of First Grade await!

Party at the Park | {North County Child Photographer}

I’m so behind in blogging, I completely forgot to blog this session, it was one of my recent favorites!!!

This little lady came all the way from Pennsylvania to see me (well she was visiting her uncle too, but I’m so glad she made time for photos as well :)).  And I knew her mom and I would get along great when I saw the variety of Well Dressed Wolf and  Matilda Jane Platinum dresses she had brought along for a variety of photos. I just love the way these clothes photograph. The colors, the textures and the fit, they are so adorable in photos!

In the first few photos Miss M is wearing the WDW Joyce Party Dress, and she was ready to party! We played some peek-a-boo, smelled some flowers, and explored around one of North County’s prettiest parks. Miss M, you were a delight to photograph, and I hope you come back to visit me again!

A Well Dressed Wolfie | {San Diego Child Photographer}

This adorable little princess came all the way from Kern County to see me. Her mommy and I “met” on facebook because of our mutual love of the brand Well Dressed Wolf. Her baby wore two different Well Dressed Wolf dresses during their photo shoot here in San Diego. I love the quality of the clothes, and they are a dream to photograph!

And little Miss E was a dream to photograph too! She loves to dance and sing, and she was delighted that I knew her favorite Nick Jr. song 🙂

I hope you enjoy your images O family!
