Family is Everything | {San Diego Family Photographer}

A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of photographing this very sweet family, the H family. They were selected last fall to receive a complimentary session/images, as part of my Thanks and Giving pay it forward, blog post here: link. Here is the nomination that made me tear up. I’m so happy to give these beautiful images of love to such a deserving family.

“When I saw your post, immediately, one family came to my mind. The H family. They have been my dad’s neighbors for several years. Throughout those years our families have become very close. They even own one of our crazy Boston Terrier puppies from a litter our dogs had. A couple of years ago their daughter became ill. After several sicknesses and back pain they came to find out that she, I believe she was 12 or 13 at the time, had Lymphoma. This started the fight for her life. They fought hard. They never asked anyone for anything. They stayed strong and hopeful. They sold their cars. The father lost his job (he did find another job, thankfully!). They are now losing their house. They have lost so much fighting for the one thing that means everything to them… But their daughter is now cancer free. If anyone deserves to have their amazing family captured beautifully by your talent, it is them.”

And a word from mom about her daughter, Ms. A:

“A’s story is one of strength. She was diagnosed Sept 2011 at 12 yrs old with stage 3 Burkitt’s lymphoma. It was an aggressive fast growing cancer. She took 10 rounds of chemo and 4 surgeries in a year’s time. Her hair came out when she was 13 and she has a scar from her chest all the way down. She never gave up and survived with the grace I didn’t know she had! She is now 20 months in remission! We are so very thankful to have her! She is a really amazing young lady.”

Thank you H family for sharing your story and joining me for an evening of beautiful light and love. Enjoy!

Lynne Brown - I must say you picked a wonderful, well deserving, hard working, always there for you family!! So happy for them! I might be a little bias but that doesn’t mean that everything I said isn’t true! I’m related to H family.

Sunshine, Lollipops and Rainbows: Adventures in Dresses | {San Diego Portrait Photographer}

Adventures in Dresses week 3: Sunshine, Lollipops and Rainbows

This week we took our little ladies (and one gentleman) to a colorful spot in Balboa Park. The girls enjoyed sitting on a throne as princesses of a beautiful kingdom, knocking on magically colorful doors, savoring lollipops as big as their faces, and exploring all the wonderful things Balboa Park has to offer.

Shades & Surf: Adventures in Dresses seaside | {North County Portrait Photographer}

Adventures in Dresses week 2: Shades & Surf

Here in Southern California, the dawn of summer brings long days, sunshine and unforgettable moments seaside. This week, we took our lovely littles in their Matilda Jane Platinum to play at the beach. We watched as the girls found joy in nature’s treasures. Seaweed and sticks transformed to a random act of culture, a tide pool turned splash zone and… the beauty of little toes exploring waves that meet the sand.

Ms. V shared her fascination with sunglasses. Ms. S rolled in the sand. Ms. M taught the others how to stand strong in the waves.

Each of the girls has an older sibling, and this is the last time they were able to enjoy mommy time before school is out for summer break. Stay tuned as we add a big sister and two big brothers who love the littles and their Adventures in Dresses.

And here’s a short video one of the moms in our group put together from our adventure:

MJ Photo walks | {San Diego Portrait Photographer}

I’ve recently connected with some local San Diego moms that share my obsession with Matilda Jane Platinum.  We collect, trade, and chat MJ. We’ve decided to get our girls together weekly for Plat walks. We get to dress our girls up in our favorite Platinum dresses, take photos, and let the girls play. But more importantly, we are building relationships. Between the moms, between the girls.  The girls are out in nature, discovering beautiful San Diego. They are learning about friendship. Learning about each other and themselves. They are having adventures in dresses. And we get to capture and enjoy every minute of it

Here are a few of the photos taken on our first plat walk. I even got to jump in front of the camera for a couple frames with my baby. Looking forward to many more adventures to come… Next week, the beach!

Matilda Jane Photo Love | {North County Photographer}

If you are a follower of this blog or know me well personally, you know that I’m obsessed with clothing from Matilda Jane Clothing for my little girl. The pieces photograph beautifully with pops of color and pattern. And they make great coordinating sets for family sessions that aren’t matchy matchy but coordinate beautifully. This dress my daughter is wearing here is my favorite piece they’ve ever made. It’s called photo love flutter. It was given to photographers a few years ago for a photo contest to showcase how beautifully the clothing photographs. I am so excited to get to photograph my own little one in such a dress!

If you are looking to book a session and would like help styling your wardrobe, I’m always happy to help!
